Nike X Raptors

Role: Graphic Designer
What: Nike and the Toronto Raptors collaboration for a special edition shoebox design.
Responsibilities: Researched brands and formed market analysis. Conceptualized and designed three distinct shoebox designs and art direction for each. Created proposal for client.
Goals: The Toronto Raptors and Nike look to create something uniquely Canadian with a brand new shoebox concept. The objective is to combine both brands and cultures to create a dynamic and memorable shoe experience.
Design Process: Concept one takes a modern approach while referencing the Raptors’ history. The sketchy design makes it feel personal and incorporates the Raptors’ never give up mentality. The maximalist box uses Raptors’ red with black to help it stand out.
Design Process: Concept two is a throwback to the exciting beginnings of the Toronto Raptors. It utilizes the classic “purple dinosaur” jersey to instantly make the nostalgic box a piece of Raptors memorabilia. The elements on the box are arranged in such a way that makes it resemble a real uniform.
Design Process: Concept three takes inspiration from existing Nike posters and ads to give the viewer a sense of wonder. Vince Carter is shown “Rising” as the focus of this box, while the red portions display additional complementary information. The idea was to make the viewer excited to wear Nike shoes and support the Raptors.
